Format & Rules
The Competition will follow the 2018 USATF (Track and Field) officials rules of competition.
An electronic timing system will be used.
Maximum spike length allowed on the track in 1/4 inch.
Most field implements will be on site.(If you have your own, bring it). Individuals implements will be checked by certified officials at the track meet.
All running events will be timed finals, except
the Open and Masters 100 meter Dash, which will be run as trial and final.
Open and Masters running events will be run oldest to youngest and women before men. Youth running events will run youngest to oldest and girls before boys.
The Alabama State Games reserves the right to eliminate the 1500M and 3000M race walk from the State Games track and field meet if an insufficient amount of participants enter those two events.
Further, the Alabama State Games or its Meet Director reserves the right to alter the schedule of the meet for any reason before the meet or the day of the event for any reason (including weather, etc...)
Participants will be given notice on the website and or CoachO of any pertinent changes before the meet and an announcement will be made for any changes at the meet over the loud speakers.
8 & Under-Born 2013 and after
17-18 Years Old-Born 2003-2004
Open – Woman and Men 19-29
Masters – Women and Men 30 and over
Athletes who are still 18 through the final day of the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships are eligible to compete in the Open Division.
Age Determination Date December 31, 2020

Fees & Deadlines
Standard Registration Fees:
Youth: $25 (Maximum of 4 events)
Adult: $15 for first event, $5 for each additional event
DEADLINE: June 8, 2021
There will be NO REFUNDS of entry fees because of rain or other acts of nature, or if an athlete or team fails to participate. Sports using outdoor sites are weather dependent. Competitions will be conducted unless State Games officials determine otherwise, or if the playing fields would incur significant damage. For more information about our FAQs, click here.
Awards & Qualifying
Alabama State Games gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division.
Track and Field is a Medal Sport for the State Games of America (SGA) event. Those who medal in the 2020-2022 Alabama State Games Track and Field meet qualify to compete in the 2022 SGA, held July 27 - July 31 in Ames & Des Moines, Iowa. Participants in the Alabama State Games are responsible to check event format and age groups for all SGA qualifying sports offered at the Alabama State Games.
